What's it all About?
At Avonmore, we decided that we wanted to help and support the great work done at Barretstown. We think what they do there and the way that they do it is brilliant and we want to give more people who require it the opportunity to benefit from the help that they offer. That's why we have set our hearts on helping them raise the much needed funds in order to allow even more families the chance to go.
If you haven't heard of Barretstown before it's a specially designed camp, based in Kildare near the foothills of the Wicklow mountains, for children with serious illnesses - primarily cancer and serious blood diseases - and their families.
They provide a unique programme of adventure, activities and fun - backed by the medical world - which helps the children regain their confidence and self-esteem and has become internationally recognised as having a profound and positive impact on their lives. The medical world calls the programmes 'therapeutic recreation', but they like to call it 'Serious Fun'.
After taking part in one of their programmes, the most important feeling the children go home with is the reassurance that happiness is for everybody, whether they are sick or not.
What is The Big Picnic?
The Avonmore Big Picnic for Barretstown is an easy and fun way of raising much needed funds for Barretstown. This summer why not invite your friends and family to a picnic and get donations from everyone who comes along. You can invite any amount of people and you can donate as little or as much as you can. Every €1 makes a difference. And what's more for every €1 you raise, Avonmore will match your donation to Barretstown! So have a Big Picnic this summer and make a big difference!
How to Take Part
Simply go to www.bigpicnic.ie and click on 'Host a Picnic' in the menu. Fill out the form with your contact details and we'll send you a great pack with everything you need to host a Big Picnic and raise funds for Barretstown! You can also phone 1850 927 875 if you'd prefer to register by telephone. Pick up some Avonmore milk from your local shop for more information on pack.
